Post 02: Comic Book Thumbnailing

My fist assignment it to make a series of "thumbnail" sketches for an 8-page comic book. It's been a while since I've done this, but I think I've still got it. While I mostly just made it up as I went, I wanted to be able to capture the innate personailty/characterization of each character within the story.

Page 1: Spike and Fia are sky-jumping into General Barx's secret base, with orders to seek out his new weapon and destroy it. Spike is exited, but Fia reminds him to keep his cool.

Page 2 - Barx is monitoring Spike and Fia's infiltration, confident that his new weapon will defeat them once and for all. His Lutenant Marke doesn't share such confidence, so Barx drags him to see the weapon himself.

Page 3 - Barx shows Marke the weapon, revealing it to be a giant humanoid robot.

Page 4 - Marke expresses awe, but is taken aback when Barx tells him that he will pilot it to fight Spike and Fia when they get there.

Page 5 - Marke refuses to cooperate, but breaks down when Barx shows Marke's "girlfriend" (An ani-human named Yukie) being held hostage as a test subject.

Page 6 - Spike and Fia battle their way through the base, eventually coming to  the robot's chambers.

Page 7 - Spike and Fia battle the machine, while Yukie gets bored with the whole "captivity" charade, and escapes on her own.

Page 8 - The fight is wearing our heroes thin.  Yukie shows up in order to hold off the machine with her mystic powers while leaving it's weakpoint exposed. The issue ends on a cliffhanger, while Spike hypes up his new game.

I am also suposed to do a tumbnail series for an 8-page picture book as well, which I'll have up shortly.
